These objectives display a staff and answer buttons to learn and drill intervals, key signatures, solfeggio, chords, chord inversions, scale-tone triads, scale-tone seventh chords, and Roman numeral analysis. All chords and Roman numeral analysis may be studied in open or closed voicings. Use the mouse to learn the material before starting the test. For example, press a button to see an interval or chord displayed on the staff. Below is a brief description of each of the Staff Objectives.
The goal is to be able to identify chords on the staff. Select a chord to hear and see it. Fifty-eight levels start with Major and minor root position triads and include triads and sevenths and their inversions, closed and open voicing, as well as, scale-tone chords. The chords appear in a variety of key signatures.
The goal is to be able to identify chords by ear. Select a chord to hear and see it. Sixty levels start with Major and minor root position triads and include triads and sevenths and their inversions, closed and open voicing, as well as, scale-tone chords. The goal is to recognize an interval quickly. Do so by counting the number of lines and spaces between notes. Use the buttons to learn the intervals first. Sixteen levels progress from reading unisons and seconds on just lines and spaces to all diatonic intervals including compound.
The goal is to name intervals on the staff, for example Major 2nd, M2. Select an interval to hear it and see it displayed. Forty-five levels include intervals from the m2 to the compound octave, P15. Key signatures go up to six flats or six sharps.
